Assessing Officers Told Procedures Waste Time
Albert M. Ward executive secretary of the Maryland State Tax Commission told the ninth annual Maryland assessing officers school at College Park that colliding laws would make normal reassessment procedures a waste of time. He quoted Attorney General Edward D. E. Rollins and noted the General Assembly’s 1956 mandatory annual assessments begin July 1 1956, while county assessors work under three year cycles started Jan 1 1954 and ending Jan 1 1957. Ward warned the new law voids reassessments under the old system.
