Seaford Woman Wins Miss Delmarva at Festival
Sue Marsh of Seaford won the Miss Delmarva title at the Delmarva Chicken Festival in Salisbury over 16 contestants. Crowned by last year’s winner Gail Brewington, Marsh, 17, plans to study Elementary Education at the University of Delaware after graduating Seaford High School. Runner up was Sandra Leigh Young. Miss Personality went to Sharon K. Isaacs and Miss Popularity to Marilyn Ruth Jarrell.

The Silver Anniversary Members Exhibition opens Saturday June 29 and runs to July 22 with about 200 artist members. Chairman Mrs Henry E Gray leads a strong committee including Mrs Reginald Clare Mrs Gerald A Drew and Mrs H M Corning all of Rehoboth Beach. Family Reunion Held At Garland Lake In Denton Area
The 15th Hutchins Hardesty Smith family reunion was held Sunday at Garland Lake near Denton. A business meeting followed dinner, with Melvin Smith presiding. New officers elected: Marvel Everett president, Malcolm Pritchett vice president, Josephine Poore secretary, Levi Everett treasurer. The year saw two weddings, five births, and one death, Laura Smith Glass. Joan Pritchett received a gift as the youngest member. Reunion planned for the third Sunday in June at the same location.

Howard Family Reunion Held At Concord June 9
On Sunday afternoon, June 9, 1963, descendants of Charles, John and Jim Howard held their 8th family reunion in the Concord Church House near Denton Maryland. The event opened with prayer by Rev T J Turkington Denton a visiting minister. The picnic lunch pleased attendees, then Dr Paul Howard president of Ridgewood New Jersey formerly of Denton treated all to ice cream. Mrs Earl Passwaters read the family history. The oldest member was Mrs Sadie Maloney of Williston who received three silver dollars. The youngest present was Doris Ann Griffith daughter of Roland and Denton. The group heard music from many family members and the reunion, their largest with about 90 people, closed with hopes to meet again in 1964.

The World War One Veterans held their State Convention at Salisbury last week at the Wicomico Hotel and it was the largest ever held in the State for that organization. Roy Grogan of Denton finished his year as Department Commander and Geo Beck of Baltimore was elected the new Commander for 1963 64. Grogan was elected Department Service Officer, which gives him the Service Officer's job from the Barracks level through to the National Office. Music for the dance was by the Starfighters of Crisfield, Md., and during supper entertainment was by the Shore Four Quartet of Salisbury Carroll Beard Don Beard George Weise and Roy Ressegue. Cap py entertained before supper with his guitar and songs of 1917 18.

Caroline Bus Drivers Win Safe Driving Awards Week
Fifty seven Caroline County School System bus drivers received Safe Driving Awards at a North Carolina High School ceremony. Recipients include William Fleetwood, Richard Hicks, Samuel Cloud, Willia Kinnamon, Rosalie Ricketts, and many more across Denton, Greensboro, Federalsburg, Ridgely, Jonestown, and Denton North Caroline. A certificate of appreciation was given to retiree Oscar Nichols after 21 years. George Caple directed the program with Supt. W. S. Hoppengardner presenting the awards.

State's Attorney Disposes Of Several Crimes In Courts
On June 18 in Denton Magistrate George W. Clendaniel arraigned Donald Lee Anthony 18 of Denton for maliciously setting fire to woods owned by Apex Wood Products Co near the Veterans of Foreign Wars Home. Offense date April 19 1963 bail set at 500 reposted. Anthony to face circuit court in October. Also before the magistrate Daniel Louis Brittingham of Denton paid 10 for speeding and Robert Darling posted 29.50 bond for illegal possession of liquor by a minor. Trials for Russell Lee Clench 32 and Charlie Daniel Gleaton 39 on Assault to Murder are set for Wednesday June 19 in Caroline County Circuit Court. On Monday June 17 Federalsburg Magistrate John F. Tilghman sentenced Louise Chance Federalsburg to 30 days in Caroline County Jail for Disorderly Conduct. fellow defendant found not guilty.
