Greensboro plans a bigger Fourth of July with the Fire Company Lions Club Athletic Association and Boy Scouts organizing a full day of events. Activities begin at 10 with children's games and a Soap Box Derby at 11, plus a baseball game in the afternoon and a seven o'clock parade ending at the school grounds. Prizes will be awarded in all events and residents and neighboring towns are invited to enter the parade.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman R. Gadow of near Federalsburg marked their golden wedding with an open house. Married at Immanuel Lutheran Preston the pair lived on the Federalsburg Preston Road most of their married life. He is a retired farmer. They have six children and eleven grandchildren with two great grandchildren.

New Jersey Woman Wins First Place in Chicken Cooking Contest
A New Jersey winner topped the National Chicken Cooking Contest at the Delmarva Chicken Festival in Pocomoke City. Mrs. Ernest Schultz of Bordentown won $600, a stove, and a national trophy for her roast chicken recipe, with sisters Mrs. Schultz and Mrs. Floyd Kerns among top finishers. Miss Delmarva Mary Kee Tankard won a $750 scholarship, and Miss Maryland Meta Justice plus Miss Delaware Carol Lee Closser were runners up with $200 prizes each. The festival drew over 20,000 spectators for a three day event capped by a five mile parade and hundreds of prize awards.

Doctor Sets New World Record in Model Air Show
Dr Walter A Good of Silver Spring Maryland claimed a new world record for sustained flight at the National Capital Model Air Show. His modified radio controlled plane stayed aloft 40 minutes 27 seconds beating the previous 26 minute mark set in 1951 by a Russian modeler.

Wildlife official warns of losses from winter feeding
Chester M. Kerns of the Maryland Game and Inland Fish Commission told the Caroline County Izaak Walton League that winter feeding and habitat loss threaten wildlife. He cited torn fences, new roads and housing reducing refuges, urged millet, sorg hum, soybeans, sumac, lespedera and cowpeas as food patches, and advised leaving dead trees for dens. Thirty deer were released in Caroline County and duck nesting boxes at Marshy Hope Game Refuge were shown. the Chesapeake Bay Bridge was called a potential headache for game management.

Farm Workers Now Covered By Social Security
