Denton Rotary Club Sends Relief Clothing
The Denton Rotary Club thanks the town and rural citizens for warm blankets and winter clothing sent to Nueva Imperial Chile. The 148 cases held about 200 coats for men, 300 coats for women, 2000 children’s garments, 2000 women’s garments, 1000 men’s garments, and 100 blankets. Weighed about 4 tons, the shipments were loaded on A Russum Orme’s truck for Port Covington Terminal Baltimore and the Imperial sailed at 3 p.m.

Marine Pfc Greenlee sails for the Mediterranean from North Carolina
Marine Pfc John M. Greenlee son of Mr and Mrs Clarence A Greenlee of Denton sailed May 17 from Morehead City to join the 1st Battalion Reinforced 8th Marines 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune. The unit will act as landing force for the U S Fleet taking part in training and visiting liberty ports in Spain Italy and France.

Bad Accident Near West Denton Injures Many School Children
The State Police log details a week of crashes near West Denton involving teens and adults. Incidents include a downtown Greensboro collision injuring several youths, a chain reaction on River Road injuring three and prompting X rays, and a head on crash on Rt 404 with two Denton residents cited for alcohol and center-line violation. Additional arrests include a larceny case tied to Federalsburg and an escapee from Patuxent Institute.

Former Congressman Edward T. Miller of Easton was elected Republican National Committeeman on June 11 as Maryland Republicans convened in Baltimore. Soldiers Promoted In Germany From Ridgely And Denton
Nelson A. Moore of Ridgely has been promoted to private first class in Germany with the 4th Armored Division. The 23-year-old medical aidman previously served at Fort Sam Houston and graduated Ridgely High School in 1955. T. B. Reed of Denton has risen to specialist four in Germany with the 3rd Armored Division. The 21-year-old clerk joined the Army in 1958, trained at Fort Jackson, and arrived overseas last December.
