John S. Ebling of Ridgely was killed when his pick-up collided with a tractor-trailer at the Jumptown and Hillsboro Ridgely road intersection. Raymond W. Adams of Hurlock faced manslaughter by motor vehicle charges. The incident marked Caroline County's fifth fatal accident of 1955. Dorothy M. Bauer of Henderson was charged with operating without a license and failure to yield after her car struck a dump truck on the Denton Ridgely county road, then crashed into a tree with $300 damage.

Lolita Hall Crowned Miss Delmarva At Chicken Festival
Lolita Hall, 17, of Ocean City, was crowned Miss Delmarva VIII at Onancock High School bowl, winning Miss Maryland and defeating Miss Delaware Frances Vincent and Miss Virginia Joyce Fooks. Governor Stanley presented the robe as about 2,000 watched. Hall earned a $750 scholarship and a trophy, with ensuing graduation duties in Ocean City.

Caroline County Short Course Club met on June 6 to plan the County Party and dinner events. Appointments were made for refreshments and corsages, a scholarship was approved, and a book of poems by Hilda Wiggin Lowe will be dedicated to Homemakers of Caroline County. A fall meeting at Camp Mardela was scheduled with a covered dish supper and entertainment by homemakers and 4-H groups, with officer elections and a new board member to be added.
