Bill to balance federal budget being considered
A proposed bill S 2197 introduced by Senator Millard E. Tydings would force federal appropriations to be reduced to match projected revenue of 31.5 billion dollars for the new fiscal year, with debt service social security and veterans relief exempted. The measure, backed by state taxpayers associations, would require a July 31 proclamation to scale down spending and is to be acted on by the Senate Finance Sub Committee this week.
