County to appoint assistant health officer and inspector
At the request of the Farm Bureau and the Caroline Medical Society the County Commissioners approved the appointment of an assistant health officer to serve as sanitary inspector across the county. The inspector will inspect restaurants hotels soda fountains dairy operations test milk and food products and investigate unsanitary conditions. The county will pay up to 1800 with the State Health Office covering travel expenses. Spare Stamp No. 9 is valid now for 5 pounds of sugar to be used for canning purposes. Another Stamp in your Ration book will be made good the last of June or the first of July.
Pacific Fleet Enlists Denton Native in Navy Training
Earl Clark Ivins Jr., son of Mr and Mrs E C Ivins of Denton, was enlisted in the U S Navy on December 11 1945 and sent to Great Lakes Illinois for training. After a 12 day leave in April he proceeded to Treasure Island California for assignment with the Pacific Fleet.
