Memorial Hospital Drive Expands in Three Counties

Henderson Rockets Meet Denton and Greensboro This Weekend

Weekend baseball schedule shows Henderson Rockets hosting Denton on Saturday and Greensboro on Sunday. Sunday's results include Hartly defeating Denton 10 to 3, Rock Hall beating Felton 7 to 0, Greensboro edging Houston 5 to 4, and Camden-Wyoming topping Chestertown 6 to 4. Pageant Planned For Short Course

Several hundred rural Maryland women will attend Visitors Day at the Rural Women's Short Course on Thursday June 19. They will take part in classes assemblies and the Stephen Foster Pageant at the Armory 8 p.m. directed by Mrs Thomas Lewis and Helen Irene Smith. The pageant features Stephen Foster songs of romance and minstrel tunes performed by about 300 Short Course members from 20 counties.

Firemen's Parade Set for Tuesday Night in Denton

The Denton Volunteer Fire Co. hosts a week of events at the Denton Firemen's Fair with a first parade in 17 years scheduled Tuesday at 8 p m Eastern daylight time 7 p m Eastern standard time The march will include 30 units bands and Bugle Corps with 800 participants along Gay Street First to Market to Randolph and to the Fair Grounds Grand prizes totaling 806 will be awarded to top bands drum corps and auxiliaries Also note if weather cancels the parade it will be moved to Thursday June 19 1947

Service Clubs Join To Clean Playground

Denton Lions and Rotary clubs met at Williston Lake on Friday evening June 6 to prepare a waterfront for the summer swimming and instruction program. Carville Fleetwood and Coach Dave Swecker supervise the effort. about 200 youth are registered for swimming and 356 for life saving. George W. Clendaniel and Fleetwood secured private lake access from A G Todd to ensure privacy and safety. Todd’s private facilities will be used if the lake is not opened to the public. The community and parents thank Todd for his public spirited cooperation as standard waterfront safety measures will be installed.

Senator Beck Named On Legislative Board

Senator George W. Beck, elected last November to represent Caroline County, was named to the Legislative Council replacing William W. Travers, who joins the State Tax Commission. Beck received a wire notice to report in Annapolis at 11:30 Wednesday. Eastern Shore colleagues include Joseph M. George and Otis McAlister. Former Senator Wilmer Fell Davis previously served on the council.

Waterfront help will be needed for summer program

Coach Dave Swecker will supervise waterfront activities this summer and seeks several volunteers with Boy Scout or Red Cross swimming and waterfront safety experience. Volunteers gain waterfront work experience and can pass Life Saving tests. The role supports the Boy Scout program. Contact Mr. Swecker to join and receive preliminary instruction.
