New Army Weapons To Visit Denton Display
On Thursday June 12 a Denton display unit arrives with Army gear including 2½ ton and 4 ton trucks a 105mm howitzer recoilless 57mm shoulder cannon radios and sniper equipment. The sniper scope with infra red sights aided night spotting and Pacific war use. The 57mm single soldier cannon reportedly has recoil similar to a .22 rifle. The unit arrives at 8:00 PM to showcase the equipment.

Local Horse Rusty Wins Jumping Honors at Maryland Show
Rusty, an eight year old Denton horse owned and ridden by R Lee Butler, captured trophies and blue ribbons at the Homestead Dairies horse show in Salisbury Maryland last Friday. Competing against War Krew, Maryland champion, Rusty won the Modified Olympics class and the Open Hunters and Jumpers class.
Methodist Youth Institute set for June at Wesley Junior College
The Annual Methodist Youth Summer Institute of the Wilmington and Easton Districts will be held at Wesley Junior College from June 16 to 22. At Carville Fleetwood's suggestion the Den ton Recreational Association chairmen and the Rotary Club voted to meet Friday evening June 6 at 6 pm at the Brick Hotel. At a May 27 Board of Education meeting, Fred G. Usilton Jr. was named High School Supervisor for Caroline County. A Chester town native, he is a 1929 Chester High School graduate, earned a MA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1934, and has held roles as teacher and principal at Caroline, Ridgely, and Preston High Schools. He sits on Maryland State Teachers Association committees and helped progress the Junior High School Program for the county. He is married to Patience Pyle and they will reside in Denton.

A moving Army recruiting station touring the Eastern Shore of Maryland is stationed in Denton on Market Street side of the Courthouse Green.
