Farm workers employed by commercial handlers and farm cooperatives in preparing fruits and vegetables for market are now covered by Social Security as of January 1. The 1950 amendments extend coverage to most agricultural processing operations, with a regularity test for farmers who grew more than half of the produce. Employers must file tax returns, showing wages and employees, with a 3 percent tax shared by operator and workers. Queen Anne School fourth to sixth graders traveled to Washington on May 24 in Carlton Mandrells bus. Accompanied by Principal Miss Mary Larrimore and several parents the group visited the Washington Monument Smithsonian Institution National Zoo and Arlington Cemetery. Food was provided by the PTA for the return trip and two students Gene Brown and Beth Pinder were ill and did not go.

Activities Of The Senior Scouts Celebrate May Events
The Senior Girl Scout Troop hosted a Mother’s Day Party on May 12 at Mrs. Wise’s home with troop committee members including Mrs. Carville Fleetwood and Mrs. K. Thos. Everagam. On May 18 they held a slumber party for new Scouts at Mrs. Orme’s home with games skits and pillow fights. On May 19 eight flowering trees were planted on the causeway with help from several fathers. trees were donated from Ridgely by Mrs. Chas. V. Moore and wood provided by Mr. Phillip Nuttle for staking. The unit requests a donated 3 by 5 foot garrison flag to add to their observances.

The Den ton Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary met last Thursday with president Louise Singer presiding. A report on the Del Mar Va convention noted members attended and contributed 350 dollars cash and 123 dollars in linen and dishes for the firehall kitchen. The kitchen was cleaned and refreshments of strawberry shortcake and coffee were served by Sylvia Holland and Elizabeth Maloney.

Ithel Mae Parks 27 of Greensboro died when a car driven by her husband Melvin Wilson Parks overturned in the Smiths front yard after failing to complete a turn at Tudmill Branch entering Greensboro. Passengers Connie Gebhart J M DeWitt and J H Orange were slightly injured. Funeral today at 2 p m Rawlings Funeral Home with burial in Greensboro Cemetery. Trooper Emil C Myers investigated.

A record field of 35 cars raced on the Delaware Speedway dirt as Dick Kaufman from Harrisburg won the 20-lap feature in Car 49 with a 9:39.5 time after Bill Baughley faltered. Emory Short led early in the 15-lap dirt race, posting 7:39.5 for victory, with C. L. Taylor second and Laurence Tucker third. Milton Defeats Hickman to Move Top in Mar Del League
Milton edged Hickman 2 to 1 last Sunday to seize sole first place in the Mar Del league. Barrett pitched well for Milton with a save bid late, while Newman held Hickman at bay until a Milton run in the seventh sealed the win.
