Moore To Head Girl Scout Fund Drive Here

Mr. Charles V. Moore, a Denton business leader, is named the Denton chair man for the Peninsula Girl Scout Council fund drive. His wife serves on a local troop committee and his daughter Victoria Ann is a Brownie. Dates Aug 28 to Sept 10 are set for solicitation.

Brownie Girl Scouts Attend Camp Todd in Denton

The Peninsula Girl Scout Council announces Brownie Girl Scouts may enroll in Camp Todd during August 7 to 20. Limit of twenty girls with a qualified staff and special program. notify the Council office in Denton promptly. Reports from the first encampment praised the two weeks with canoe trips, overnight excursions, a swimming meet, and a water ballet.

Peabody Scholarship Open for Eastern Shore Musicians

The Shore Society of Maryland invites applicants for the Eva Hodson Memorial Scholarship at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. The full tuition grant for one year begins with the September 29 term, with auditions the second week of August. Applicants must be Eastern Shore high school graduates, natives or have Eastern Shore maternal ancestry.

Shadowlawn Plant Enlarges Poultry and Meat Processing Space

Shadowlawn Frozen Food Locker Plant in Denton expands its poultry processing room and adds space for winter meat processing. The plant reports busy Thursdays for picking, drawing, cutting, wrapping and freezing for locker patrons and home freezers. In ten years locals find it cheaper to use the locker plant for complete processing, and winter work will gain room for extra butchers to handle beef and pork.

Denton Associations Plan Shared Office Building

The Denton Production Credit Association and the National Farm Loan Association of Denton will jointly build a one story brick office at Randolph and Third Streets. The 50 by 40 foot building, to be completed January 1, will house four offices and a board room. Charles Hadaway announced the plan. he and staff will share space with Harry Holsinger and his team.

Miles River Yacht Club to Hold Regattas This August

Miles River Yacht Club announces two annual regattas in August for sail and power boats. Sail includes Chesapeake Bay Log Canoes Stars Thistles Hamptons Comets International 14s Penguins Chesapeake 16s Chesapeake 20s Lightnings and a new 20 feet and under Free-For-All. First place wins a perpetual trophy. Registration begins Friday on the docks. events feature an orchestra and a Dixie land Band outside Saturday night. County Seeks Six High School Teachers for Fall

Caroline County must hire six teachers including a principal before the new school year. Fred Asilton says the vacancies span Caroline High School, Denton music, Federalsburg agriculture, and general science, physics, biology. Lockerman in Denton needs social studies and science math staff. Preston Ridgely have no vacancies. Greensboro near full. elementary vacancies include a fourth grade at Greensboro.

Two Autoists Fined After Reckless Driving Charges

Fred McCabe of Burrsville was found guilty of reckless driving after side swiping the old bridge and colliding with a pickup on the Choptank River bridge at Greensboro. He was fined 10.75 dollars. A second case involved Jackie Lee Blades of Ridgely who wrecked a car on Boyce Mill Road, sustaining facial injuries. He faced reckless driving charges. a 10.75 dollar fine was suspended.

Mental Hygiene Clinic Service To Be Doubled

A Maryland campaign to double mental hygiene clinic service opens with Miss Eloise Pickrell of Leonardtown announcing a Friday conference in Baltimore. Officials from the State Health Department and local leaders join in urging expansion to one day per week per county, addressing long waits and a 30 family waiting list in Caroline County.

Service Clubs Plan Evening Cruise From Cambridge Next Tuesday

The Rotary Club and The Lions Club of Denton finalize plans for their annual Cambridge cruise at the Denton Rotary meeting held last Tuesday. Twenty six Rotarians and twenty Lions will depart Long Wharf at 6 50 p m Tuesday with Mandrells Motor Coaches transporting groups from the Brick Hotel. Denton Girl Crowned Caroline's Farm Queen At Picnic

Peggy Crouse a 17 year old Denton girl and Caroline High School graduate won the Caroline County Farm Queen contest at Federalsburg, to represent the county at Timonium Fair on August 27. Nancy Cooper was runner up and Joan Elaine Morgan placed third. several other children competed in morning baby contests and age group classes supervised by county farm bureau leaders.

Explorer Post 295 of Easton plans a two part life saving demo on August 20 in Caroline County with Emergency Action to Save Lives and rescue work from the Civil Defense Welfare Rescue Truck containing over $5,000 worth of portable equipment. Members of the Southern States Farmers Supply Cooperative Board of Directors and the Farm Home Advisory Committee and their spouses will meet August 4 at 7 p m DST at the Brick Hotel in Denton.
