Congressman E. T. Miller said White House approval for a $415,000 Denton Federal Post Office building has moved to House and Senate committees to speed progress. He noted plans exclude court facilities, but hopes to add them later with support from Sen. Butler and Sen. Beall. Miller said the design allows future expansion without major cost. He also cited Sen. Butler’s success in removing a clause from the Omni bus Court bill to keep Denton and Cumberland court sessions open.

University partners offer near home elementary teaching program
The University of Maryland and the State Department of Education team with Kent County and nearby boards to offer a two year program for college graduates to earn elementary teaching certification. Classes likely at Chestertown High School meet evenings three times weekly, from September to May, totaling 28 semester hours. Estimated cost around 350 dollars plus a 10 dollar matriculation fee and 10 dollars per semester hour for instruction.
