Teachers Visit The Stock Yards For Hog Grading Demo
Thirty six Maryland vocational agriculture teachers and county agents attended the second live hog grading demonstration at the Baltimore Union Stock Yards on Friday August 3. They heard talks on grading slaughter barrows evaluating pork carcasses and witnessed live hog back fat probing. Attending were numerous county agents and teachers from across Maryland plus officials from the State Department of Education and stock yards firms.

Girl Scout Camp Todd on Williston Lake near Denton winds up its busiest year with about 200 girls enrolled across three two week sessions. Miss Iliane Schadt says demand exceeded supply as waiting lists formed. The Peninsula Council and Wicomico Council oversee units offering age based camps, with plans to expand capacity and fund maintenance through cookie sales and a fall fund drive.

The Denton Volunteer Fire Co Ladies Auxiliary held a July 26 picnic at Mrs. Arthur Scott Jr s home with 10 members present. President Mrs. Leon Maloney led the meeting and discussed the annual trip and plans for serving the National Guard breakfast and Class of 1946 Reunion banquet. A resignation created a vacancy on the Relief Committee. Mrs Gorman Henry was appointed to fill it. The next meeting is Aug 30 at 8 pm at the fire hall.

Knotts Named Circuit Court Examiner in Caroline County
James Owen Knotts, a local attorney, was appointed as one of two Examiners in Equity for the Circuit Court of Caroline County. The oath was administered by Gerald M. Pine, Chief Deputy Clerk. About 25 4 H members and 5 adults from Caroline County visit the University Campus August 6 11 for the 34th annual State 4 H Club Week. Tri County District Boy Scouts Return Home
One hundred fifty Boy Scouts and leaders from the Tri County District returned Sunday from a week at the Rodney Scout Reservation in North East Maryland. The Del Mar Va Council camp near Chesapeake Bay opened a new section with six lodges and sites funded by the Camp Capital drive. Troops attending included 129 133 137 164 165 177 190 and 196 from Centreville Queen Anne Kent Island Denton Easton. Additional troops from Queenstown Ridgely Goldsboro Tilghman also joined Rodney Reservation events later. The camp featured swimming pistol- rifle range activities and specialized fields from camping to wildlife management. Many earned merit badges toward Second and First Class Ranks. Also 4-H members and 17 parents joined a pre Club Week Campfire near Denton with organized stunts and songs.
