The Caroline County Nursing Committee met at Mrs. Irvin Brumbaugh’s Greensboro home with members including Mrs. Zeigler president and Mrs. Wolf, Turkington, Schmick, Rieck, Vosh ei, Ford, Brumbaugh, and Kern. The treasurer reported 719.50 and cancer drive receipts of 2 577 83. The group noted Easter Seals quota met for Crippled Children. Plans were announced to remember Cambridge Hospital patients by Farm Bureau groups.

More than 200 residents from Talbot Caroline Queen Annes and Dorchester Counties launched a 1.1 million program to enlarge and modernize The Memorial Hospital in Easton. A 750000 public subscription and a 350000 federal grant are planned with pre campaign pledges of 117134 and donations of 44500 from medical staff.

Local Boat Club To Hold Crab Feast
Denton Boat Club will host a crab feast at the club on the Choptank River near Denton on July 29. Newly elected officers on July 8 include Harry Harrison Jr as president Perrie Waters as vice president W A Stewart Wright as secretary Everett Townsend as treasurer Harry Smith as dockmaster and Nick Henry as grounds superintendent. The club, formed last year for water sports, offers docking gas oil and storage and recently held an outing at Leights Beach on July 22. The growing membership enjoys club boat trips down the Choptank for family swimming and picnics and the Denton Boat Club welcomes guests and new members even without a boat.

The sixth annual Caroline County 4-H Dairy Club Show was held at Garland Lake on Thursday July 19. Seventeen 4-H members exhibited 19 dairy animals and one baby beef with Wheatley Neal of Denton winning grand champion Guernsey female and his sister Janet Neal champion 4-H Club bull. Various classes awarded top placings to local youths and awards included Purina feed trophies for champion females. The event was judged by Mr. Vere S. Culver and sponsored by the University of Maryland Extension Service State Fair Board and Caroline County Farm Bureau.
