Holstein Show Set for Saturday at Garland Lake
Holstein breeders from Caroline Dorchester Queen Anne and Talbot will exhibit more than 60 animals at the Holstein Field Day. The event, in its 11th year, features 4-H exhibitors and dairy leaders with Dr. Joe Pou of the University of Maryland judging. Lunch will be served by Mrs. Ruth Price. Judging begins at 11:00 a.m. daylight saving time. Public invitation extended.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Anna Stevenson Bromley 77 of New York known as The Angel Of Chelsa. She died Sunday at her sister's Delmar home. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery. Survived by three sisters and one brother.

Health Dept Driving Tests Show Safe Vehicle Operation
Under supervision of Claude Brubeck the Caroline County Health Department’s five member driving staff passed state driving tests for health department drivers. The program, first in Maryland outside the State Police, includes written, road and psycho physical tests to improve safety and identify driver defects. Reports go to the State Department of Health and Automobile Club of Maryland.

Progress this week in both chambers on pending appropriations. The House passed a State Justice and Commerce Department bill at 1,050 million, 212 million below the Administration request, and added an amendment to cap civil service vacancies at one in four for fiscal 1952. The House recommitted the Independent Offices bill conference report by 188 to 186, objecting to the Jensen amendment’s elimination and to broader public housing provisions. The Senate approved an 826.5 million Agriculture appropriation for fiscal 1952, boosting the committee’s recommendation by 75 million, after the House had backed 717 million and the Administration 820 million. The Senate set 280 million for soil conservation payments, above the House 225 million, with the Administration seeking 285 million. A modified Ferguson amendment was adopted barring

Janet Neal of the Sour Apple Tree 4-H Club won the Caroline County 4-H Champion Bull Trophy at the County 4-H Dairy Show held at Garlang Lake on July 19. Her three years of dairy work yielded multiple ribbons and a goal to retain the trophy. she also earned a Farm Bureau scholarship to State 4-H Club Week in August.
