Slaying in Ridgely Card Hall Over 10 Cents Dispute
Clayton Benson, a colored man from Greens iboro, was killed after a lengthy dispute over 10 cents in a card game at an amusement hall near Ridgely. Archie Wyatt, also colored from Ridgely, allegedly struck Benson with a two by four, fracturing his skull and breaking his neck. Benson died en route to Easton Hospital in Greensboro. Wyatt surrendered at the Denton jail and coroner H. C. Pennington held an inquest in Ridgely.
