Two Denton Boys Drown In River Rescue Fails
Two Denton boys Richard E. Collins 11 and Gerald Eugene McGhee 15 drowned in the Choptank River near Route 404 bridge after a fishing outing. Witnesses said Collins fell in, McGhee tried to help, but currents and weak swimming doomed them. Richard Towers 15 attempted a rescue but had to abandon the effort. Both bodies were recovered by volunteer firemen. Funeral services were held at Moore Funeral Home in Denton with interment in Denton Cemetery. Collins by Church of the Nazarene pastor Rev William Tally and McGhee by Graef Methodist pastor Rev T J Turkington. Burial in Denton Cemetery.

Authority Cruise Vessel To Be Launched Aug 7
The Maryland Port Authority will launch its new cruise ship named Port Welcome at A T Shipbuilding Corp in Camden New Jersey on August 7. Mrs J Millard Tawes will christen the vessel and a reception will follow at the Cherry Hill Inn. The three deck ship seats over 600 passengers and uses four diesel engines with two propellers. It will operate in Chesapeake Bay and inland waters for excursions and charters when not used for port promotion trips by the Wilson Tolchester Line.

Man Convicted Of Grand Larceny in Federalsburg
Joe Bolden, 21, a Black man from Federalsburg, was found guilty of grand larceny in Caroline County Circuit Court before Judge Thomas J. Keating. He stole $550 in cash from Elrick & Co. by accessing a money box after returning later. Final judgment postponed while he seeks $550 to reimburse the store. Also, Curtis A. McCoy waived extradition to Delaware after burglary charges and confessed, then was turned to police.
