Sparks brothers nursery in Ridgely loses a corrugated iron chicken house and 5000 chicks in a $6000 blaze that mirrors last year’s fire. Charles Harris, 22, of Denton, was electrocuted while working on a 23 000 volt power line at a Harrington sub-station. He fell after contact but was saved by his safety belt. Coroner ruled accidental death with third degree burns and no inquest. Funeral at Harris home today at 2, burial in Denton cemetery. Survived by wife Pauline Bullock, two children, parents, two brothers, three sisters.

Funeral services held for 15 month old April Geraldine Hill of West Denton who died Monday from Rocky Mountain spotted fever. She was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Layton. The Laytons care for her bereaved family as 4 year old William Willis remains hospitalized with the same illness in Memorial Hospital Easton. Burial was in Denton cemetery with Pastor Mrs. Laura B. Albright presiding at the Nazarene church.

School Board Names Supervisor and Principal for Caroline County
Miss Rebecca Lane of Goldsboro was named supervisor of pupil personnel for Caroline County, succeeding Elizabeth Stone who resigned as attendance officer. Richard W. Hall of Princess Anne was appointed principal of Preston High School succeeding Winfred Meyer. Lane begins August 1 and Hall is a Navy veteran with two children.

James J. Lacey, State Comptroller, announced that the State Income Tax take for the fiscal year ended totaled $19,597,632.05 from about 325,877 returns, over 60,000 more than 1946.
