The Caroline County Garden Club held its June meeting at Mrs Irvin Brumbaughs Greensboro home. Members praised flower arrangements by Christine Heineman who stressed design, color and balance. Mrs Robert Holt of Federalsburg received an honorable mention in the 42nd Rose Festival in Newark New York. A new member joined, Mrs G L Duffey, with a luncheon served by hostesses. State's Attorney Disposes Of Several Cases In Courts
On Wednesday morning June 26 Judge Carter presided in Caroline County Circuit Court as Charlie Gleaton and Russell Clench pleaded guilty to assault and battery on William Baynard. Assault with intent to murder was dismissed after pleas. Both requested pre sentence investigations. sentencing anticipated about four weeks. Judge Carter also granted probation without a verdict to two youths for breaking and entering, with supervision by Parole and Probation. Earlier, July 1, Magistrate Tilghman in Federalsburg sentenced Alexander Santee to 60 days and a $50 fine for drunk and disorderly conduct after an initial 30 day sentence, the fine unpaid. Santee, a Mississippi migrant laborer, woke the camp boss and allegedly tried to set fire to the boss’s cabin following earlier disputes.

Review of Maryland Traffic Fatalities Last Week
Eleven people died on Maryland highways last week per the Maryland State Police weekly survey. Three drivers, six passengers, and two pedestrians were killed. four deaths involved unsafe turns, five involved speed, and driver error affected all cases. Major Davidson urged safe driving, noting sun glare and disregard for signals as hazards. He stressed personal responsibility to develop safe driving habits.

Mrs Iona Rebecca Holt 87 widow of Rev Thomas S Holt a retired Methodist clergyman and founder of Holt Oil Co died at her Federalsburg home. She belonged to Union Methodist Church WSCS and Federalsburg Woman's Club. Survived by three sons John T Salisbury Walter Dover and Robert W Federalsburg, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Framptom Funeral Home.
