Peoples Bank Holds Stockholders Meeting
The 58th annual stockholders meeting of The Peoples Bank of Denton Maryland was held January 24 at the Denton Community House. Harry H. Nuttle was absent. E Theodore Orme welcomed attendees and noted the bank's strong financial position. Harry Rieck was chosen chairman and Madeline C Brown secretary. Tellers for the election were nominated and votes cast by proxy. The present board of directors was re elected for the new year.

Health Education Kits Presented To Schools In County
The Caroline County Tuberculosis Association distributed health education kits to six high schools and five elementary schools on Monday January 23. Miss Clara Mergler delivered the kits to the Board of Education where W Stewart Fitzgerald, superintendent of schools, received them. Each kit includes a teacher reference notebook and a pupil material folder for classroom use.

Federal Non-Highway Gasoline Tax Inequitable
C E Wise Jr Maryland Farm Bureau Secretary says federal tax on non highway gasoline is inequitable and discriminatory against farmers. He notes farmers pay about 60 million yearly and urges exemption for non highway farm production. The 2 cent rate includes a temporary 1/2 cent that expires March 31, 1956, with highway bill adding 1 cent more.
