Thomas O. Beck, 48, of Denton, is killed when the car he rode in ran off Route 312 north of Ridgely, overturning twice after uprooting ten fence posts. John Bradley and Clarence Darling, both 42, of Denton and Goldsboro, were treated at Easton Hospital for lacerations.

Henry M Marvel seaman apprentice USN from Goldsboro is slated to return to the United States in February after serving aboard the heavy cruiser USS Des Moines flagship of the US Sixth Fleet. The Des Moines joined the Sixth Fleet last September and has since taken part in training exercises and visits to foreign ports including Istanbul Turkey.

George Monroe Moffett, 68, founder and chairman of the Corn Products Refining Co, died December 22 in New York. His pro bated will, dated December 18, leaves the bulk of the $200 million estate to his son James A. Moffett 2d of Glen Head, with other heirs and a widow receiving fixed trust payments. Damage to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Substructure Unveiled

The Greensboro Junior Woman's Club thanks helpers for a successful Christmas outreach. Through the year they collected toys and clothing, packed boxes with fruit and candy, and bought extra shoes and clothing. A jeep delivered gifts to seven families with fifty three children and thirty five aged adults. $145.63 was spent on 17 pairs of socks, 15 pairs of shoes, 8 shirts, 3 belts, 11 pairs of gloves, dungarees and underwear, plus a box for State Hospital.

On Tuesday January 15, Mr A R Bolz of The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company will describe the transistor at the Denton Rotary Club meeting and at Denton High School assembly. The transistor, discovered by Bell Laboratories engineers in basic research, is pea sized and will perform most functions now served by electronic tubes. Three County Men Enlist in Army in Early Year
Three Caroline County men chose military service starting the new year enlisting in the Regular Army for two to three years. Noble Henry Good of Ridgely joined the Army, as did William Joseph Connolly of Ridgely, a Ridgely High School graduate. Francis Martin Noble of Denton enlisted for three years with airborne assignment, a Caroline High School alum. Sergeant Adams announced Air Force enlistments are quota based at three per day for the Del Mar Va Peninsula, with a current backlog delaying definite dates.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Adams of near town marked their fiftieth anniversary on December 31 with an open house for family. Guests included Neal Heller and son Orlando, Kemp Adams, Reese Adams and daughters Paula and Rose, Paul Arne and sons Dennis and Jerome, three foster children, and several relatives. Married in Greenwood Delaware by Rev. J L Johnson on December 31 1901 they have three children six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The gold and white anniversary cake was given by Reese Adams and wife, while Bloomery W S C S presented two dozen yellow roses. Refreshments included home made cakes ice cream and candies.
