Acreage Reserve Rules Tighten Farm Moves in Maryland
Maryland farmers face new Acreage Reserve rules for 1958 from the State Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office. They ban placing a reserve crop on one farm while renting or buying another to offset the acreage cut, a practice allowed in 1957. A substantial increase in production on a second farm is defined as more than 10 percent over the larger 1958 allotment or the largest acreage grown in 1956 or 1957.
