Veterans Aid Rules For Dependents And VA Case Reviews
Veterans receiving 50 percent or more service connected disability may get extra allowances for dependents including wives, minor children, and dependent parents. Those under 50 percent, nonservice-connected pension recipients, and certain others are ineligible. The program scales with number and type of dependents and differs for wartime or peacetime disabilities, rising with disability level above 50 percent. The VA and The American Legion offer details, with Baltimore contact Charles L. Michael. VA reports show 53,376 claims readjusted to Sept 30 1957, including increases, decreases, and terminations. A second review is planned for about 125,000 additional cases under 55, covering WWII and peacetime veterans, with 1.7 million cases identified for review.
