Credit Card Economics at National Level
Budget Director Maurice H. Stans warned that Congress considered 20 major House spending bills and 20 in the Senate for new programs totaling over 326 billion dollars across five years. He said passing these would add 50 to 60 billion dollars yearly to outlays, dubbing this "credit card" economics. He urged eternal vigilance as defense against national bankruptcy.

TAX RITE OUTLINES DEEPER SOCIAL SECURITY TAX HIKE
On January 1 1960 social security taxes rose to 6 percent on the first 4800 of earnings and will jump again in 1963 1966 and 1969 until employer and employee pay 414 percent each for a total of 9 percent The Your Taxes publication argues the system has deviated from its purpose noting proposals like the Forand Bill to fund care for beneficiaries would require further tax hikes The trust fund stood at 21 5 billion at year end and disbursements have exceeded tax receipts warning of heavy tax increases to preserve the program and asking if taxpayers want more of the same.
