Republicans Hear Rep Jonas Lincoln Day Dinner Address
Representative Charles R. Jonas spoke to Caroline Republicans at the 12th annual Lincoln Day Dinner held at the American Legion Home near Denton on February 11. About 150 attendees braved a storm and advance reservations reached 241, a record high. Jonas denounced Johnson Administration budget tricks, arguing the federal budget hides deficits by shifting obligations and delaying payments to colleges, the Civil Service Retirement Fund, and other areas. He contrasted obligational authority with actual spending, noting a large proposed budget for the coming year.
