The Very Reverend J. Francis Tucker delivered an address to the Denton Rotary Club at the Brick Hotel. He spoke on experiences in war prison camps in the South and Midwest, the Moscow attack on Pope Pius XII, and Vatican matters. Tucker, provincial of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, also serves as pastor of St. Anthony's in Wilmington, and was hosted by Rev. Francis J. Hensel with fourteen Ridgely Chamber of Commerce members in attendance.

He spoke at Church of the Brethren in the morning and Pilgrim Holiness at night, part of a four church visit, with Rev. Leonard White also preaching in two Methodist churches. Crabbe criticized wartime liquor production amid sugar rationing, noting three million acres planted for victory gardens contrasted with alcohol production and brewing using two billion pounds of sugar.

Mrs Pauline Fountain of Greensburg and Seaford received a Christmas era message from her husband Sgt Walter Fountain Jr s commanding officer Captain Donald Diaz praising his soldierly qualities. Fountain, in the Pacific since March 1912, enlisted September 1941 six months after marrying Pauline Gardner of Greensboro. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Walter Fountain of Denton and was employed by B Schwanda and Sons at induction. The captain assures Mrs Fountain of the soldiers welfare and aims for his safe return.

Girl Dies Father Hurt By Toy Gun
A two year old girl, Margaret Carolyn Hynson, died and her father Percy Hynson was wounded when a bullet from a gun, mistaken for a toy, was fired in their farm home. Leon Hynson, 13, held the gun and police say the discharge was accidental. Funeral services were held at Pilgrim Holiness Church in Denton and burial followed in Denton cemetery.
