Polio Party Nets $125 For Polio Drive
Mrs. Wilmer Parker of Denton won the coffee maker and Mrs. H T Langmaid won the ham as prizes at a community club card party held Friday night for the polio drive. Total receipts reached $125.10 with many donors and non club members contributing cakes candy and chickens. The event was described as very enjoyable and well spent for a worthy cause.

The Rev William E Habbart aged 75 of 2100 Jefferson Street Wilmington former district superintendent of the Methodist Conference died last week at Delaware Hospital after a prolonged illness He served 47 years in ministry retiring from the Peninsula Conference in 1946 while pastor of Chester Bethel Methodist Church Born November 29 1874 in Brandywine Hundred he was educated in local schools attended Conference Academy Dover and Drew Seminary He held pastorates in Wilmington Neavitt Fairlee Ridgely Crisfield Cambridge Kenton and other towns and led the Dover District 1929 1934 Surviving are widow Jane Hamilton a son Paul R Habbart of Claremont and daughter Mrs Fairlee H Woodside of Millersburg PA Funeral was at Chester Bethel Church with the Rev Dr Hamilton P Fox in charge Interment followed in the church cemetery.

1950 Census Work Started on the Eastern Shore
Edward V. Evans Jr. announces the start of preliminary work for the 1950 Census to be conducted in April. Salisbury office on Fitzwater Street accepts enumerator applications, with interviews and training to follow once enough applicants are received. About 196 enumerators will cover nine counties and adjacent areas, supervised by 13 crew leaders, with 15 staff at the district HQ handling reports and tabulations. Provisional population counts will be released locally after initial work is finished.

First Maryland Farm Housing Loan Granted in Salisbury
The Farmers Home Administration closed Maryland's first farm housing loan in Salisbury on February 2, 1950. Harry L. The final meeting of the present series on mental health will be held Tuesday February 14 at Caroline High School in Denton. Board of Education Office and County Health Department staff will present the issue as they know it from their work. There is no county mental health aid except in extreme emergencies. Residents are unaware of situations where help exists. Attendance has encouraged organizers and speakers. The public is invited.
