Caroline County Garden Club members shared an imag inary Hawaii tour at Mrs. W Edwin Unger s home with Mrs Unger Mrs Banning and Mrs Blades. Photos covered sunrise to hula technique from crater to orchids and pineapple fields and a 15000 acre cattle ranch now Hannah Ranch Hotel. Afterward seven ladies in Hawaiian dress served refreshments. The club noted first place in Horticulture with nineteen entries at the Christmas Greens Show and announced upcoming 1960 programs with steady calendar dates and notable events including Babe Ruth s birth and Lincoln s Birthday.

Nine science committees reported satisfactory progress and chairmen from Federalsburg Greensboro Denton and Preston led subjects from commercial to social studies with 30 county parents participating. New North Caroline High School facilities and help from Future Teachers Club members aided the event as work continues on science material through the year.

A fitting and showing demonstration will be held Saturday February 13 at 10 00 am on Wayne A Cawley Jr farm west of Denton on Route 404. The event trains boys and girls in fitting and showing their dairy animals and notes it takes 6 to 8 weeks to prepare an animal, depending on its condition and effort per animal. Continued on page 8.
