The State Roads Commission awarded a contract to Bitu Minous Construction Company of Baltimore to upgrade 6 miles of Marslang Route 311 between Goldsboro and Mardell in Carolie County. The bid of 5475.1% was the lowest of three. work includes grading drainage widening resurfacing and realignment to ease curves. The highway carries about 1050 vehicles daily with current narrow 15-foot driving surface. The project adds a 2 foot bar rane surface with 8-foot shoulders on both sides and stabilizes the surface.

Funeral services for Corsine Carroll a 75 year old retired farmer were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at J Virgil Moore and Son Funeral Home. Burial followed in Denton Cemetery. Carroll died suddenly Monday at his Burrsville home. He was the son of the late Thomas and Mrs Carroll and survived by a foster son Luther Barcus of Spring Lake New Jersey. His wife Ella Nowell Carroll died several years ago.
