Caroline County commissioners reviewed a loan repayment plan showing a rising tax rate from 1951, peaking in 1964, tied to school construction financing. The 1949 loan totaled 544000 after 181000 state grant and 25000 improvements excluded, to be repaid over 15 years at 1.5 percent interest.
Report of Tag Day shows 3794.41 raised across multiple towns and groups in Caroline County. Nursing staff and committee members expressed gratitude for wide community support and cooperation in making the event a success.
Unity Homemakers Club met at Brethren Church for an annul Covered Dish Supper and Christmas party. About twenty members with families enjoyed chicken salad ham and many dishes. A candlelight service, prayers, poems, songs, a Christmas dialogue and a Santa Claus gift presentation followed. New officers for 1951: President Rodman Leese, Vice President Farr Crouse, Secretary Theodore Manlove, Treasurer Howard Mlezick, Executive Board George Lowe.
Maryland farmers are urged to buy lime and fertilizer early to maximize scarce transportation during defense preparations. Joseph H. Blandford, chair of the Maryland Production and Marketing Administration State Committee, asks farmers to visit the county office and plan ahead with the Agricultural Conservation Program. The notice notes many steps in mining, manufacturing, and distribution and the need for rail and truck transport to meet demand.

Caroline County firemen's ladies auxiliaries organize a county group at a Denton meeting elect Mrs Carlton Smith of Goldsboro as first president. Other officers include Mrs Norris Dain Federalsburg vice president and Mrs Paul Singer Denton recording secretary. Members from Marshel Greensboro Goldsboro Denton Federalsburg Ridgelys auxiliaries join, with monthly meetings set, next in Federalsburg January 26.
Nurses on duty suppressed a flash fire in the hospital's first floor utility room at 7 30 a m using extinguishers and a hose before firefighters arrived. Supervising nurses Marie Schwartz and Dene Peltz led the effort as smoke filled the building and patients were evacuated as a precaution. The incident caused partial damage to the utility room and linen supplies.
The Henderson Homemakers Club held their Christmas party at Mrs Ruth Cohee’s home on December 13 with 9 members 2 visitors and 7 children present. A turkey dinner and baskets followed a short meeting and the Christmas Story was read. Proceeds from the November 24 bazaar were donated to Marydel and Goldsboro Fire Companies plus $5 to Mr Roland Thompson for the Health Center collection. The group meets with Mrs Maud Frase in Goldsboro in January.

Leaders from Talbot Queen Annes Caroline and Kent counties attended the 1951 Eastern Shore tractor preventive maintenance leadership training at Charles Mielkie’s Easton shop. The two day program covered daily and periodic tractor service with focus on fuel, carburetion cooling lubrication and hitch alignment. Safety was stressed and instructors included extension staff and reps from Ameri can 687 Co J I Case and T Earle Ewing.
Spivak and his orchestra will perform at the Caroline Cotillion Club Christmas Dance Friday evening November 29 at the Denton Armory. The renowned band returns for the third year by popular request with Bobby Rickey on drums and Pat Collins as vocalist. Club members must meet the December 22 deadline and arrange guest tickets for out of county guests and memberships.
Hold Xmas Party Planning group No. 3 met at Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Lord's home for the annual Christmas Party. The meeting opened with Silent Night and the Lord's Prayer. Florence Love led recreation with Christmas games and readings. Gifts were exchanged and cake and ice cream were served by the Lords.

On Sundays at a0 oclock more than 60 young people from the Youth Fellowship groups of First Methodist Church will participate in a candlelight service in the sanctuary. The service aims to deepen devotion and foster faith and fellowship as worshippers, in candlelit warmth, reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and invite all to worship.
The Peninsula Conference Woman's Society of Christian Service held a day long meeting at Wesley Junior College in Dover with a luncheon. Mrs Harry B Hygate presided as president and Mrs Thomas H Maguire Sr presented a life membership award to Mrs John W Sylvester, treasurer of Flaston District, including a life certificate and service pin.
Denton Kittens fell 38-20 to Federalsburg on their home court on Saturday evening. Federalsburg led 26-6 at halftime and added 12 in the second half as Denton could only muster 14. The loss leaves Denton with a 2-3 league record. the team’s troubles remain unclear despite moments of ability.
Householders employing regular domestic workers will report wages via a small pre addressed return envelope starting January first. The plan requires reporting workers paid as much as 50 dollars in a calendar quarter and who work 24 days or more in that period, with a 2 percent tax on wages. The housewife may deduct one half of this tax from the employee’s wages.
