Pfc Seese Wins Wings and Boots Title
Pfc Warren Seese of Denton earned the right to wear Wings on Boots as a United States Army Paratroops jumper after four weeks of training. He completed five jumps, including two night tactical jumps with combat landings. The Parachute School trains jumpers and also offers specialist training in communications, demolition, rigging and chute maintenance for airborne troops.

Greensboro Bay Is Gunner On Fortress 15th AAF Mission
The Second Bombardment Group a B 17 Flying Fortress unit of the 15th AAF flew its 300th mission in the Mediterranean Theater on November 1 1944. Led by Col Paul T. Cullen the group attacked targets at Vienna Austria. From North African bases in 1943 it supported Tunisian campaigns and Italy including Pantelleria Sicily and Cassino. The unit has dropped 18568 tons of bombs 7574 sorties and shot down 496 enemy planes earning a Presidential citation and numerous decorations. S Sgt Lewis C Steward of Greensboro Maryland is a gunner on the crew.

Induction and Training Of Roy J Shively In 1942
Roy J Shively was inducted at Fort George G Meade on Friday November 13 1942. He completed basic training at Jefferson Barracks Missouri and was sent to Adjutant General School at Arkansas State College Jonesboro for two months. He then attended Second Air Force Combat Intelligence School and Photo Interpretation School in Salt Lake City Utah for two months and graduated as an honor student in May 1913. He served thirteen months in intelligence sections of the 16th Bomber Wing Bomber Command and XX Bomber Command at Biegs Field EL Peso Ponas. He applied for Aviation Cadet in February 1913 but orders were rescinded due to AAF expansion program. He is presently Section Chief of Intelligence at the 313th Bom bardment Wing somewhere in the South Pacific and is entitled to wear the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Expert Badge for the Carbine.

Mr and Mrs William B Trice of Federalsburg report their son Pfc Raymond W Trice 32 was killed Nov 14 1944 in France. Inducted 1942 he was wounded twice in Italy and earned a Purple Heart sent to his mother. His brother Russell received medical discharge Nov 20 after two years nine months in North Africa. another brother William C Trice served 34 months in the Panama Canal zone.

Bronze Battle Stars for 29th Division Medics in France
The 29th Infantry Division announced that surgical technicians attached to an infantry battalion earned Bronze Star Medals for meritorious achievement during the Bohars drive near Tremelaoud, France. Philip Hague, Edward Elburn, and James Smith treated two wounded under heavy shellfire and evacuated them to the battalion aid station, risking life with no cover. Aerial Gunner Cpl George W Beck Jr son of Denton residents enlisted in the Army Air Corps in July 1943 and was called to duty February 21, 1914. He graduated Caroline High School in 1913 and attended the University of Delaware before service. He trained in Baltimore, Miami Beach, Kingman Arizona, Lincoln Nebraska, and Ardmore Oklahoma. The last letter dated November 19 from the East Coast said he expected to leave the country soon. He had a 15 day furlough in June.
