Maryland Delegation Heads to American Farm Bureau Convention

Forty Maryland farmers depart Baltimore for Chicago to attend the 37th annual American Farm Bureau Convention. Led by State President Wilson Heaps and Secretary GC Wise Jr, the Maryland group plans to influence farm policy and submit recommendations from the special voting delegates session. The lineup includes voting delegates, women’s representatives, and dozens of county members, with policies to impact the forthcoming 15th Congress as farm income trends concern growers.

Caroline High School Class of 1935 Holds Reunion

The 20th year reunion of Caroline High School's 1935 graduates gathered at the Community House in Denton with 54 guests. Reese Brown presided as master of ceremonies and noted events from senior year with songs, piano, and violin performances.

County chairwoman Mrs Wm G Towers reports the 1955 Tag Day Drive raised funds despite a cold Novem ber 5 day. She thanks district chairmen solicitors clubs and individual contributors and lists the newly available figures for publication.

Pilgrim Holiness Youth Rally Set for January Second

Pilgrim Holiness Churches in the Eastern District plan a January 2 rally at Laurel High School Auditorium Delaware at 7 p m Rev J D Abbott District Superintendent announces. Rev William H Neff General Superintendent of the denomination may address attendees. Rev Edwin Wallace Vineland N J will lead a 50 voice choir and present an piece of religious art. Rev W Earl Watts Milton will preside and arrange details. Public invited.

Santa Claus Visits Denton Tots For Christmas Treats

Santa Mellits cut his Miami trip short to bring cheer to 1600 children in Denton. He lights the theatre, welcomes Santa on stage, and promises gifts and a parade to the Fire House where fruit and candy are distributed. The Denton Chamber of Commerce and Volunteer Fire Company sponsor the event reaching four churches with apples oranges and candy.

Members of Class Of ’45 Observe 10th Anniversary

The Caroline High School Class of 1915 held a reunion Saturday night December 10 at the Fire Hall. Fifty eight attended, 31 from the class, with Billy Horner as master of ceremonies. Officers named: Richard If Behlke president, G Arthur Weir vice president, Doris Vianne Butler secretary, Phyllis Christine Andrew treasurer. The group recalled memories, read the class Will and Prophecy, and noted the cream rose as class flower with the motto Today Decides Tomorrow.

Denton Community Club Hosts Air Defense Program

Lt. John Mosteller of the Bal timore Air Defense led a club meeting on air defense procedures in Denton and urged volunteers for the local post. Miss Elizabeth Vickers shared Alaska reflections and native life, including tuberculosis and eye infections, plus craft displays. A Christmas exhibit with prizes and a musical program closed the session.

Denton Chamber Promotes Christmas Plans This Year

The Denton Chamber of Commerce drives holiday efforts with a Christmas carols broadcast from First Methodist Church steeple. Beginning Sunday December 18 and every evening 7 to 730, organist Mrs. GH Rue leads the music period. Chamber members seek donations from local business leaders for Santa Claus Day and town decorations.

Ridgely Lions Club Sells Christmas Trees for Sight Work

The Ridgely Lions Club announces its annual Christmas tree sale across Ridgely Denton Greensboro and nearby areas to fund sight conservation projects. J Lawrence Wright chairs the effort with 12 members selling 1000 balsam firs from Nova Scotia at local sites including Bill Williams garage and Clayton Montgomery service station.

Santa Claus visits Greensboro on Saturday December 17 with a 1 30 p m movie for youngsters in the high school auditorium. After the show he will invite children to follow him to the fire house for a treat.
