Ex-Postmaster S. G. Nuttle Dies at 87 in Denton
Samuel Graham Nuttle, 87, former Caroline County treasurer and ex-postmaster of Denton, died at home after a long illness. He served as county treasurer 1908 to 1912 and postmaster 1922 to 1931, and was later a real estate dealer. Survived by son Harold C. Nuttle, daughters Mrs. Martin C. Voss and Mrs. Louise Cooley, two grandchildren, and a great grandson. Funeral at Moore Funeral Home Saturday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Dr. John E. French. interment in Denton Cemetery.

Final returns in the Memorial Hospital campaign show 2,100 donors contributing 50,242.33 dollars, 14 percent above the 44,000 dollar goal. The largest gift of 27,534.65 came from the Special Gifts Committee in Talbot County, with 2,000 from the Junior Auxiliary and 8,610 from the Hospital Board of Directors. The general canvass raised 17487.68 across Caroline Queen Anne's and Talbot, with additional 3060 from Talbot business and 2160 from medical staff. Talbot County contributions break down to 8629.50 from Talbot, 629.50 from employees, and multiple district sums, plus smaller gifts from towns and communities within the tri county area. Queen Anne's totals include 3016.65 for Queenstown and other villages. Caroline County contributions cover Denton Ridgely Greensboro Goldsboro and Henderson.

Denton Lions Pancake Supper a Huge Community Success
The Denton Lions Club pancake supper last Monday drew about 1,100 attendees and raised roughly 300 for the club. Leona Schmick Perry of Preston succeeds Margaret Smith as Talbot County home demonstration agent. Perry, widow of William Perry, served as a Navy first lieutenant stationed at the Pentagon for eight years. A Bridgewater College and Golden College graduate, she earned a master’s at the University of Maryland and studied at Smith College. She formerly taught in Goldsboro Maryland and Waynesboro Virginia.
