Maryland Farm Front This Week Highlights Soybean Support
Maryland outlines 1949 crop price supports for soybeans with U S No 2 grade at 2.11 dollars per bushel for green and yellow varieties and 1.91 for brown black and mixed grades. Loans and purchase agreements run through January 31 1950 with maturity May 31 1950. A 30 day delivery deadline ends May 31 1950 or earlier per CCC. Delaware Maryland potato growers meet in Snow Hill November 7 to discuss a marketing agreement, vote to hold a hearing, and plan administration funding via bag or carrot fees. If two thirds approve a 1950 agreement Maryland could set a 4200 acre potato allotment and offer 60 percent parity for crop loans. The 1949 PMA potato program acreage was 4800.
