Peninsula Horticultural Society to Meet in Dover

The Peninsula Horticultural Society will hold its 64th annual meeting in Dover December 12 and 13 with vegetable day, banquet, and fruit day. Rev. Roy L. Delaware Speedway hosts a six event stock car show with 37 entries, led by Horace Williams, Preston Niblett and Pete Moxles in a dramatic season finale before about 1509 fans. Niblett wins the 2nd heat in 3:58, Stoltzfus and Williams contend in the sprint, a midrace incident halts a 14th lap, and Jim Hases with Stoltzfus drive to early leads in the later 20 lap feature as crowd activity and a stray wheel cause a crash in the infield.

Colleen Townsend, a Hollywood actress who left film to do Christian work, stars in the religious color film Lord of All. Shown at Marydel Community Hall at 7 30 p m Sunday December 10. Filmed at King's College Delaware with Noel Rayburn leading man and over a hundred King's College students in the cast. Movie runs about 35 minutes and is free with a silver offering to defray expenses.

Santa Claus Planned in Federalsburg December 9

Santa will appear in Federalsburg on Saturday December 9 with a band escort. He will visit Schine’s Federal Theatre for a free movie at 1:30 after a 10 am doors opening, with Easton Orphans’ Home children attending and a turkey dinner. The Federalsburg Chamber of Commerce backs the event. Sessions include gift giving, candy distribution, and interviews on Christmas wishes, with visits to bedridden children. W. R. Morgan Dies in Federalsburg After Heart Attack

W Russell Morgan age 50 a Federalsburg feed dealer and long time firemen and lodge activist died suddenly at his home on West Central Avenue Saturday morning from a heart attack. He was a former Federalsburg Fire Company chief and president and active in Maryland State Firemen’s and Delmarva Firemen’s associations. Surviving are his wife Mamie and other Morgan family members. Funeral services were held Monday at Frampton Funeral Home with Nanticoke Lodge No 172 AF and AM officiating. burial at Hill Crest Cemetery.

Funeral services for William Harper in Greensboro

Funeral services for William Wallace Harper aged 62 were held from Rawlings Funeral Home in Greens boro, conducted by Rev. John White of Denton. Burial took place in Greensboro Cemetery. Harper, a well known Greens boro farmer, died Sunday morning after a long illness. He is survived by his widow Lillian Ann Harper, a son William Calvin Harper of Greensboro, a daughter Rachel Jane Harper of Baltimore, plus a niece and a nephew.

The Caroline County Health Association Nursing Committee held its year end meeting at the Health Center. Tuberculosis seal sale receipts to date exceed last year by $120, with displays arranged in the former A and P Store window in Denton. Tag Day reports are incomplete and stand at 8680.39. Federalsburg Nanticoke Lodge No 172 A F and A M will mark its 75th founding anniversary with ceremonies this Friday and Saturday. Governor Lane announces a new sales tax cut taking effect at midnight Thursday November 30 making all meals tax free and all purchases up to fifty cents untaxed.
