Beck Chevrolet Sales announces the 1951 Chevrolet will be shown in an all day and evening open house on Saturday December 9 at the showroom. Mr G W Beck says the district will see the latest Chevrolet design as the model debuts nationally with a festive opening day program and expected record crowds.
A regional meeting of Southern States Cooperative Farm Home Advisory Committees is set for December 11 at The Brick Hotel in Denton Maryland from 10 30 a m to 3 00 p m to outline the committees work for the next year About 30 women are expected to attend with Mrs Sarah P Ellis of Richmond Virginia directing The program will feature Mrs Nelson Covey Preston Md and Mrs J Boone Jarrell Ridgely Md as speakers Special guest Miss Bessie Spofford Home Demonstration Agent Denton will attend Attending committees include Caroline Supply Preston Federalsburg Ridgely Easton and Denton from multiple Southern States groups
The Peninsula Horticultural Society will hold its 64th annual meeting in Dover December 12 and 13 with vegetable day, banquet, and fruit day. Rev. Roy L. Tawes of Avenue Methodist Church Milford will speak at the banquet. reports on research and vegetable topics precede discussions, and a session on the peninsula’s dairy industry follows. Reservations available from the banquet committee, county agent, or society officers.
Delaware Speedway hosts a six event stock car show with 37 entries, led by Horace Williams, Preston Niblett and Pete Moxles in a dramatic season finale before about 1509 fans. Niblett wins the 2nd heat in 3:58, Stoltzfus and Williams contend in the sprint, a midrace incident halts a 14th lap, and Jim Hases with Stoltzfus drive to early leads in the later 20 lap feature as crowd activity and a stray wheel cause a crash in the infield.
Colleen Townsend, a Hollywood actress who left film to do Christian work, stars in the religious color film Lord of All. Shown at Marydel Community Hall at 7 30 p m Sunday December 10. Filmed at King's College Delaware with Noel Rayburn leading man and over a hundred King's College students in the cast. Movie runs about 35 minutes and is free with a silver offering to defray expenses.
Church World Service Center in New Windsor Md will send a relief truck to Denton on Monday Dec 4. It will stop at the Church of the Brethren. Churches and groups may bring relief clothing and shoes for pickup on the fourth at the Brethren church Fellowship Hall Dec 1 and 2.
On December 1 the Denton National Bank will distribute 515,483 to 582 Christmas Club members. The total is about 9,000 more than last year, records show for the bank’s Christmas Club.
Health appeal urging purchase of TB Christmas Seals to fund vaccines and research. Mrs Wilbert L. Merriken of Denton chairs Caroline County Health Association TB Committee, stressing seals save lives and protect family health by funding anti tuberculosis campaigns.
Santa will appear in Federalsburg on Saturday December 9 with a band escort. He will visit Schine’s Federal Theatre for a free movie at 1:30 after a 10 am doors opening, with Easton Orphans’ Home children attending and a turkey dinner. The Federalsburg Chamber of Commerce backs the event. Sessions include gift giving, candy distribution, and interviews on Christmas wishes, with visits to bedridden children. Santa Claus Committee led by J Walter Truitt includes Leg Collins Clayton Collins Mrs Anthony Ballus and Bill Willey.
W Russell Morgan age 50 a Federalsburg feed dealer and long time firemen and lodge activist died suddenly at his home on West Central Avenue Saturday morning from a heart attack. He was a former Federalsburg Fire Company chief and president and active in Maryland State Firemen’s and Delmarva Firemen’s associations. Surviving are his wife Mamie and other Morgan family members. Funeral services were held Monday at Frampton Funeral Home with Nanticoke Lodge No 172 AF and AM officiating. burial at Hill Crest Cemetery.
Funeral services for William Wallace Harper aged 62 were held from Rawlings Funeral Home in Greens boro, conducted by Rev. John White of Denton. Burial took place in Greensboro Cemetery. Harper, a well known Greens boro farmer, died Sunday morning after a long illness. He is survived by his widow Lillian Ann Harper, a son William Calvin Harper of Greensboro, a daughter Rachel Jane Harper of Baltimore, plus a niece and a nephew.

Denton Kittens become official members of the Girls Eastern Shore Basketball League at a Federalsburg meeting. Officers elected include Pres. Joan Kerten and Sec. Butch Gel ith. Teams represented: Salisbury Lewes Georgetown Federalsburg and Denton. League starts Dec. 1 with 7:30 pm games. Denton hosts St Michaels in season opener.
The Caroline County Health Association Nursing Committee held its year end meeting at the Health Center. Tuberculosis seal sale receipts to date exceed last year by $120, with displays arranged in the former A and P Store window in Denton. Tag Day reports are incomplete and stand at 8680.39. Denton Community Club plans a Health Center Fund luncheon on Tuesday, November 28, at the Club House.
Federalsburg Nanticoke Lodge No 172 A F and A M will mark its 75th founding anniversary with ceremonies this Friday and Saturday. Grand Master Jacob S New and the Grand Lodge officers will attend a Friday banquet and special session at 8 pm. Saturday’s observance includes a Union Methodist Church service with sermon by Rev Roy T Thawley and an escort by Chesapeake Commandery No 10 and Knights Templar from other commanderies.
The appointment of Mr. William E. Linch as rural letter carrier at the Ridgely post office has been received by Postmaster James F. Stack. Mr. Lynch has been temporary carrier since the retirement of Mr Edwin Meredith in December 1947.
The Denton Community Club will host a covered dish supper on Friday December 1 at 6 30 PM for club members. Each member brings her husband or a guest. A program is arranged by program chairman Mrs William Wolf.
Governor Lane announces a new sales tax cut taking effect at midnight Thursday November 30 making all meals tax free and all purchases up to fifty cents untaxed. The measure exempts cleansers detergents for home use and infant care items and aims to save Marlanders about 7 million dollars yearly with a projected ending year surplus near 5 million.

Stephen Lencz 82 died Tuesday at Wilmington General Hospital. He lived at 103 Bellanca Drive Collins Park and previously farmed near Henderson. Survived by widow Rosa Horvath Lencz.
