William S Gordy Dies. Eastern Shore Banker Leader
William S Gordy longtime Salisbury banker and five term Maryland comptroller died aged 76. He led Salisbury National Bank for 53 years and headed Gordy Insurance. A Democrat, he influenced regional politics and public works, and served as a trustee of St Peter's Church. He is survived by wife M Clara White, a sister and two nephews.

Mrs. W. QO. Lednum of Denton fell from her chair in the living room on Market Street Tuesday evening while asleep and broke her collar bone. She is widow of a former Denton druggist and lives with her sister Mrs. Roe.
Denton Area Plans Modern Health Center For Caroline County
Architect's drawing shows a proposed new health center in Caroline County to replace an inadequate facility. Denton city and county health groups plan land donations totaling about 60 by 160 feet plus a 50 by 110 foot adjoining lot. Estimated value around 2750 plus land value, with pledges near 7500 and prospects for 2500 more as total rises toward 25000 to trigger a 5000 boost. Memorials will be offered to contributors.

The Tri County Pomona Grange serving Talbot Queen Annes and Caroline counties hosted Maryland's seventieth State Grange meeting in Easton at the Tidewater Inn. A three day program included sessions at the County Building and events at Easton High School with 110 delegates and 15 state officers among about 200 attendees. The agenda blended business with discussions on farm and home topics while honoring Dr T B Symons and hosting guest Akif Cakman, plus four foreign UM students speaking on Christmas observances.

Merle Crouse, Ridgely High School graduate and Bridgewater College junior, captains Bridgewater to an undefeated fall season culminating in the Virginia AAU Cross Country title in Richmond. He won the five mile event in 26 minutes 13 seconds, finishing 100 yards ahead of the nearest rival.
