Harrington’s Kent and Sussex County Fair hosts Labor Day modified stock cars on the half mile Harrington Speedway. Entries from Richmond Virginia drivers Charles Drake and Charles Rush, plus others nationwide, open to all 21 plus drivers with 1937 to present model cars. Time trials at 1 pm, first race around 2 30 pm.

Grand Championship Goes to 14 Year Old Billy Sutton
A 14 year old Chestertown youth, Billy Sutton, won the grand championship at the seventh annual Eastern Shore Bull Show and Holstein Field Day at Garland Lake near Denton. Sutton also captured the junior championship. other top honors went to Holstein cows and Holstein bulls exhibited by breeders from Denton Ridgeley Centreville and Federalsburg with judging by Guy Harmon of Queenstown.

Farm Hand Abduction Case Ends With Capture
A one eyed farmhand named Cornelius Ellsworth Whiting, 39, was captured by state police after a three week search for Hattie Lou Unsworth, a 15 year old farmer's daughter missing since she reportedly ran away with him to live in Talbot and Queen Anne county woods on roots and stolen vegetables. She was found malnourished and taken to Easton hospital. Relatives say she planned to marry him in New York, while officials note the affair Whiting allegedly had with a white girl.
