State Farm Queen Title Sought By Farmerettes

The State Farm Queen will be chosen at the Timonium Fair on August 27 from 23 county winners. Contestants must be unmarried farm girls aged 16 to 18 who live on farms and rely on farming for at least 40 percent of family income, with the winner receiving a University of Maryland scholarship or a $200 alternate, plus a silver bowl, bracelet, and cash prizes for runners up.

Open House At NCHS Farm Demonstration Plots

Public invited to Open House at NCHS Farm Demonstration Plots Monday evening August 27 at 7. King Family Reunion At Camp Mardela August 18 19

Descendants of Levi and Sarah Frantz King held a two day reunion at Camp Mardela near Denton August 18 and 19 drawing about 150 members. Officers planned activities including worship, meals, and a Hymn Sing while contributing to the Ridgely Church of the Brethren Memorial Organ Fund in honor of the King ancestors.

State Trooper Activity In Caroline County Last Week

State Police report several incidents in Caroline County including a fatal collision on Route 312 at Ridgely where Susan Strotman, 4, died and Debra Strotman, 2, was injured. A Harley Davidson incident near Henderson injured two aboard. Cody, Wood, Coffee, and Hubbard faced charges for reckless driving and other violations. One driver, Willis Laughery, ran over a rut causing a truck to leave the road. no charges.

Greensboro Baptist Church Plans Musical Talent Night

Greensboro Baptist Church will host a Sunday evening program on August 26 at eight o’clock to spotlight its musical ministry. A poll seeks the ten most popular hymns among Christians in Greensboro, with ballots or suggestions to be submitted. The event will feature a piano concert by four youth performers and choirs from both adults and youths.

Polls Set Up For Wheat Quota Vote August 30

Voters will cast ballots on August 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Denton’s New Post Office Building and Caroline Supply Co in Preston for eight districts. If two thirds approve, 1963 wheat price support rises to at least 1.82 per bushel with quotas and penalties. if not, support falls to about 1.21 per bushel and no quotas or penalties. Eligible voters include growers with more than 15 acres of wheat for harvest in 1963.

Caroline County Library Completes First Service Year

The Board of Library Trustees marks a successful first year of public library service in Caroline County with strong resident support. Librarian William N. Raleigh credits citizen cooperation for the project’s meaning. Circulation at the Headquarters Library totals 6837 books in five months February through June with figures of 227, 1869, 1489, 1484, and 1768 respectively.
