The Denton Lions Club to canvass Denton residents on Monday August 23 1948 at 6 30 p m to raise funds for spraying with DDT after few donations so far. The club notes spraying has reduced flies and mosquitoes for Denton residents and endorses buying glasses via Light Conservation Committee after health department referral.

Esther Albright Enters Boston School of Nursing
Miss Esther Dorcas Albright, daughter of the Rev Laura B Albright of Denton, will be among forty nine girls entering the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Boston when classes open September 10. The program includes a two week orientation, six months preclinical training with four months at Simmons College, and a three year course. Ruth Catherine Taylor of Balboa Heights Panama Canal Zone is also in the class representing six states.

Recreation Program Closes With Swimming And Field Day Events
Denton recreation program ends six weeks of activities marred only by rain with over seventy children daily and 2390 season attendance. Highlights include daily swimming at Garland Lake, a final high school dance, overnight camps at Williston, and a big Thursday Field Day with prizes donated by local merchants. 85 children attended the Field Day. winners listed for running, jumping, swimming and pets. Thanks extended to volunteers, schools, church, and local businesses for support and prizes.
