Cambridge V J Day Parade Draws 50000 Plus Notables

Cambridge prepares for a V J Day parade on August 14 with an estimated 50 000 spectators. Notable guests include Congressman Edward T Miller and former Senator George L Radcliffe and a large roster of military and civic leaders. A week of carnival events leads to a 6 PM parade followed by a drum corps exhibition and aerial revue. Cash prizes nearing $4000 reward participants.

Voss Family Reunion at Garland Lake Delights 54 Guests

A Voss family reunion at Garland Lake near Burrsville Maryland gathered fifty four descendants of James Voss and Josephine Currey Voss. Dr Norwood Voss was elected president with Mrs Roberta Wyatt as secretary. The event featured a picnic lunch and plans for an annual gathering.

Long Elected Post Commander for 1948-49 at American Legion

Caroline Post No. 29 elected officers for 1948-49 on August 5. T. Clayton Long was named Commander with A R Orme and H J Hubbard as vice commanders and M H Smith as Adjutant. Annual Guernsey Breeders Field Day at Pioneer Point Farms

The Guernsey breeders of Kent, Caroline, Talbot and Queen Annes counties plan a Field Day at Pioneer Point Farms horse barn on Wednesday August 25 with judging at 1030 a m E S T C E Woodward manager of Pioneer Point as show chairman. More than 100 Guernseys are expected from the region and a calf class showcased by 4 H Club members will be a highlight. The event invites all to attend and watch for further notices.

Wright Reunion Held At Choptank

The John Riley Wright and Ann Kimmey Wright descendants held a reunion at Estelle Wrights home in Choptank Maryland on Sunday August 1. Officers elected for the next year include Chairman Estelle Wright Vice-Chairman Wilbur Jump Secretary Myrtle E Messick. Ralph Wright recorded the event and Leon Wright showed moving pictures of the Apple Blossom Festival. A buffet luncheon was served.

Richard Baker 79 farmer died at home near Denton and was buried in Den ton cemetery after funeral services at J. Virgil Moore and Son Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Faulkner of Tuckahoe. Survived by wife Virgie and two sons Joseph and James. brothers John, Robert, and Bates.

Greens boro Baseball Club plans a Sunday dedication of its new park just before the game with visiting Denton. Camden-Wyoming edged Denton 2 1 at Schaub Park as McGillen and Hughes matched up until C W pulled ahead in the second. Rock Hall routed Houston 9 2 while Greensboro beat Hartly 4 0 and Chestertown defeated Felton 9 0.

Shore 4-H Girls Win Share of Cooking Prizes at College Park

More than 1,000 farm youngsters gathered at the University of Maryland for 4-H Club Think week closing events. Eastern Shore girls won multiple cooking and canning prizes, with Jane McCauley of Hagerstown taking the top prize for a home-made chiffon evening gown made from $15.15 in a state-wide contest.
