District Holiness Assembly Opens At Denton Campground
The Eastern District Pilgrim Holiness Church opened its annual assembly at the Denton campground after the golden jubilee camp meeting. Rev Albert H. Wilson of Rensselaer presided with Rev David Wilson of Binghamton present. Rev Mary Garrett announced $153,344 raised for missions and church costs. Enrollment rose to 2,747 in 39 Sunday Schools, with average attendance up to 51. Ordination served by Rev. Albert Wilson for Marion Griffin Joshua Slimmer and Russell Coverdale. Deaconess ordained Mrs. Rachel Moore. Officers elected included H. D. Dukes as district superintendent and T. S. Dixon as assistant superintendent.

Paul S. Ebling of Greensboro is named to the Caroline County Farmers Home Administration Committee for a three year term starting July 20. He will join F. Andrew Werner and Martin C. Stevens Awarded 55 Year Pin
Stevens of Wilmington, retired from railroading in 1939, received his 55 year pin. At 79 he remains active with Brandywing Lodge 957, the Red Men, and Masons. Known as Goat Stevens, he began railroading in 1891 and train service in 1892, joining the Brotherhood in 1893. J. L. Stevens of rural Denton is a fellow railroader and kin.

Weather Man Takes Over Recreation Program This Week
Weather disruptions hindered Williston camp plans for boys and girls main events last week. Rain affected swimming, pet show, and dances while the six week program nears finale with field day, a Friday night dance, and a Williston Lake picnic. Umpires from the Eastern Shore League aided local baseball coaching and volunteers cleared grounds for camping preparations.

National Vegetable Growers Meet in Baltimore August 8 12
County Agent Rogers reminds Caroline county growers that after 40 years they can attend the National Vegetable Growers Association meeting in Maryland August 8 to 12.
