Girl Scouts Camp Todd Near Denton Closes After Season
The first season of Camp Todd the Girl Scout camp near Silver Lake Denton ended Saturday. Mrs. Austin Roberts director and counselors Brownies reported achievements as fourteen girls earned life saving badges. Forty two girls and nine counselors staffed the final week with nine girls in the Gipsy unit led by Miss Helen Roe Roberts. Denton participants include Ruby Adams Jane Adams Mary Lee Engerman Sally Everngam Louise Hignutt Mary Lou Kerslake Sarah Lane Lois Slaughter Vera Smith Roberta Somers Elaine Willis. Three Denton girls Janet Lou Butler Mary Ann Fleetwood Carolyn Tongue attended a preceding encampment with enrollment of 35.

Wright Reunion Held At Choptank Last Sunday
Descendants of John Riley Wright and Ann Kimmey Wright gathered at Estelle Wrights home in Choptank for the tenth annual reunion. Nellie Jump chaired, minutes read by Clara Wright, program included singing, a poem, prayers, and imitations. A buffet lunch followed, with moving pictures taken by Leon Wright. Double Hills Homemakers Hold Annual Picnic
The Double Hills Homemakers Club enjoyed its annual picnic at Trapp Pond Delaware on August 2. The event featured a pine woods setting with a pavilion and fire places, a lunch that disappeared quickly as members ate, and post lunch bathing and games. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Lockerman and sons, Miss Mary Ann Blades, Mr. Charles Todd, Dennis and Mary, Mr. Havil Krabill, and Mr. Robert.

Wheatley Neal Wins Back-to-Back 4-H Fitting Trophy
Wheatley Neal of Denton has won the Richard Blackburn Champion 4-H Fitting and Showing Trophy for a second consecutive year with the same Guernsey heifer. The 4-H youth, son of J Dallas Neal, also raises Hampshire and Yorkshire hogs and serves as Sour Apple Tree Club treasurer.

The Denton National Bank marked its sixth anniversary with an open house from 3 to 6 pm. About 300 guests viewed William A. Schick Jr.’s coin and bill collection dating 1793 to 1926 and a $1000 six percent bond. Bank officials and wives hosted, with guests from nearby and Baltimore and Philadelphia banks.

Late tomato blight risk from cold nights guidance
Cold nights may hasten tomato late blight. Farmers should inspect fields and begin spraying or dusting immediately if symptoms appear. Use fixed copper or Zineb with 100 gallons of water per acre or 40 to 50 pounds of dust. If spraying, 2 pounds copper or 2 pounds Dithane Z-78 per 100 gallons applies. If dusting, 40 to 50 pounds of 7 percent fixed copper or 6 percent Zineb per acre is advised.

Gerald Bradley of Federalsburg raises a pure bred Angus baby beef for a 4-H project. He first entered in a calf scramble at the Skent & Sussex County Fair in Harrington and has shown at the Eastern Shore 4-H Show in Centreville, the 4-H Dairy Show in Denton, and the Kent & Sussex County Fair in Harrington. He consumes substantial grain daily and also raises Kenworthy hybrid corn and a bird patch conservation project while serving as vice president of his 4-H Club guided by Messrs.
