Federalsburg Club Wins Anti-Litter Contest
The Federalsburg Woman's Club won the Anti-Litter Campaign Contest of the Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs. First Place Citation was presented by Mrs. Joseph D. Murray at the April convention in the Emerson Hotel. Second place went to the Woman's Club of Wicomico County and third to the Woman's Club of Lochearn.

Turkish Visitors Learn About Local Farming
A Maryland extension program hosts Turkish visitors for two months to study fruit and vegetable industries. Abbas Akbudak and Huhnu Aksoylar, from Ankara and Isparta respectively, will live on local farms, learn seed varieties, cultivation, harvesting, and home canning techniques, and observe Extension Service work. They will travel to several states before returning to Turkey in early November.

Caroline County Teachers Attend Several Meetings
April was busy for Caroline County teachers and administrators with state and regional meetings. In Baltimore on April 12 13 principals superintendents and supervisors met on Improving the Curriculum with speakers Dr Thomas Pullen Dorothy Shires Charles Kettering and Paul Ward. On April 14 county teachers attended a Salisbury Colored High School physical education meeting featuring demonstrations and discussions. Attendees included numerous supervisors and teachers from Federalsburg Ridgely Henderson Denton Jonestown and Easton among others. A third April meeting on April 21 at Easton High School hosted Eastern Shore regional junior high English and social studies teachers focusing on Unit Planning and Teaching Reading in a Core Program.

Parade Planned For Little League Day May 19th
In preparation for Little League Day on May 19th the Ladies Auxiliary plans a parade to open the season. Committees include Queen Candidates Mrs William Dempsey and Mrs Quentin Walsh music Mrs Fred Asilton posters Mrs John Asher and committees for food entry and more. Over 75 merchants and organizations have been contacted to make this year’s parade bigger and better than last year with a day of baseball fun and food at Lions Club Baseball Diamond inviting participation from any group not yet contacted.

Rector Resigns Episcopal Pulpit At Denton Parish
At a special Vestry meeting Christ Episcopal Church Denton announced Rev. C Robert Sutton will resign effective July 31 and move with his wife to Towanda Pennsylvania about July 10 He is a St Johns Annapolis and Virginia Theological Seminary graduate and was ordained in 1945 After serving at Sherwood Cockeysville he has been rector of Denton since May 1951 He accepted a call to Towanda Pennsylvanias Christ Church

County Superintendent Mr Stewart Fitzgerald attends a state wide meeting of superintendents in Easton where Human Development is the chief topic led by Dr Daniel Prescott of the University of Maryland. Dr Prescott founded the Child Study Program later used nationwide in in service education. Daylight Saving Time set by Denton Commissioners takes effect April 29 1956 at 2 am and ends September 30 1956 at 2 am unless Baltimore extends time.
