Denton Boat Races Draw 2000 Fans With 52 Entries
Race coordinator Earl Ivins Jr notes 52 boats competed at Denton Bridge in a lively, non sanctioned Fire Co event drawing about 2000 spectators. Winners hailed from Baltimore Annapolis and nearby towns with names like Ziegfield Girton and Spooks. Ivins and Willard Knotts plan the APBA sanctioned meet next Sunday at Sharptown.

Girl Scouts Enjoy Overnight And Camping Trip
Senior Scout Troop 15 led by Miss Barbara Reccius and Intermediate Troop 45 led by Mrs. Walter G. Kerslake spent an overnight at Garland Lake on Friday April 27. They planned Camp Todd but could not use the Lodge fireplace after a fire, so Mr and Mrs Ted Lapham lent a cottage for their return. Cooking happened outdoors on tin can stoves and buddy burners the girls made on arrival. Miss Reccius arranged a Treasure Hunt and all girls joined in. Caroline High opened its track season with a 60 to 26 victory over Rock Hall High School at Rock Hall on Tuesday. At a recent Denton Chamber meeting, plans were approved to sponsor a local beauty to represent the town at the Delmarva Chicken Festival in June. Diane Blair, Miss Denton, was praised as a standout contestant. A committee will recruit entrants aged 16 to 20, with information available at Ev erngam's. The group also discussed a Route 50 billboard to divert shore traffic, saving 16 miles, and will seek donations from Route 50 to the Fire Tower.
