Fat Barrows Exhibit Marked Big 4-H And FFA Show
Charles Hunley of Easton exhibited the grand champion barrow weighing 225 pounds at the Spring Eastern Shore 4-H and FFA Fat Hog Show at Queen Anne's County Park on April 17. Esskay bought it for 35c per pound. Reserve champion Eddie Henry weighed 265 pounds and was also bought by Esskay at 35c. 135 animals were shown by 74 Esskay and 61 Armour buyers for an average of about 22.75 per hundred. James B. Outhouse judged. Marty Gannon assisted.

Girl Scout Troop Committee Meeting Agenda and Plans
The Girl Scout Troop Committee met Tuesday evening April 17 at Mrs. Gerard Warwick's home with assistants Mrs. James A. Wise and Mrs. O. E. Roberts. They discussed Camp Todd progress and learned details about the camp site. Troop 4 announced planting flowering trees along the causeway as a community project. The group noted the need for a meeting place for Brownies and Girl Scouts before fall, and refreshments were served after adjournment.

Scout Leaders Train In Outdoor Cooking At Camp Todd
Leaders from five counties completed the final outdoor cooking course at Camp Todd Williston and will receive leadership certificates. Mrs Austin Roberts of Sadlersville trained Caroline Kent Queen Annes Talbot and Dorchester leaders in campers stew and camping foods. Caroline county led the 1951 Red Cross drive with $3 375 14 raised, exceeding the $2 728 goal. Federalsburg, Denton, Preston, Greensboro and other towns also contributed as noted by Robert Holt and Mrs Reba Wright.

Greensboro Woman's Missionary Union Meets Tuesday
The Greensboro Baptist Church women gathered at Mrs. Marie Rouse's home for an engaging meeting led by president Mrs. Spicher. Speakers from China, Japan, Nigeria, Latin America and more shared missionary reports while 111 new missionaries were noted. the group also donated 60 to the Annie Armstrong Offering, surpassing last year. Next month meets with Mrs. Irving Ober.

The Easton Community Concert Association announced a four concert series for 1951 52. Artists include violinist Ricardo Odnoposoff and the Columbia Canadian Trio Joan Rowland Betty Jean Hagen and William Hossack duo pianists Loretta and Murray Dranoff and baritone Carlos Sherman. Over 500 members have subscribed and volunteers are thanked.

Cancer Sunday Observed Across Denton Churches
Worshipers will observe Cancer Sunday on April 22 after an announcement by Mrs. William Wolf, chair of the American Cancer Society’s 1951 Crusade. Clergy from Catholic and Protestant churches were asked to include prayers for cancer control during services. Rev. John E. French of First Methodist Church urged that religion aid cancer efforts, stressing saving lives and alleviating suffering as a divine task and noting scientific progress.

Greensboro P T A met April 9 in the school auditorium to elect officers for 1951 52 and to appoint executives. New officers include President Donald Jones and Vice President Charles Bilbrough. The second annual Caroline County Service Club Banquet was held Tuesday evening at the Armory in Denton with all county clubs present. Federalsburg Lions won the plaque for highest attendance. Over 250 guests enjoyed dinner by Caroline Chapter No. 62 O E S as Fred Asilton and Rev. T J Turkington led piano and song while former Congressman Calvin D Johnson spoke on national foundations and aims to an ovation.

State police and a wide posse questioned a 26 year old farmhand after a violent taxi kidnapping and rape attempt near New Bridge in Talbot County. The man was captured by Trooper Robert Crocker near a road junction after an extensive search.
