Caroline County Circuit Court jurors found Ruth Ann Clarke, 40, guilty of murder in the second degree for the February 14, 1959 killing of Marion Hudson. The all white panel, with 15 strikes used by defense, awaits sentencing by Judge J DeWeese Carter, scheduled to occur after April 24. Other cases included Simms guilty of disorderly conduct and indecent exposure, Graham sentenced to 18 months, and Wilson facing possible retrial amid appeals.

Caroline County property owners are urged to join Keep Maryland Beautiful in a general clean up week during April designated as Cleanup Month. Led by Mrs. C. J. Kern, the effort promotes demolishing unsightly buildings planting Black Eyed Susans and beautifying yards and lanes. Motors are asked to help by carrying litter bags in cars as part of the statewide Sweepy campaign promoting tidier roadsides.

Eastern Shore 4 H members will stage the 10th annual Spring 4 H cattle show at Queen Anne s County Fairgrounds near Centreville on Saturday April 25 starting at 11 am.
