Mrs G Arthur McDaniel of Federalsburg was elected president of the Peninsula Girl Scout Council at the Charter Dinner at Wicomico High School in Salisbury. Also elected were Mrs William J Hart Jr as vice president, Mrs John W Henderson as secretary, and Mr Evan B Nutt as treasurer. Peninsula Annual Conference To Meet In Salisbury May 14 17
The Peninsula Annual Conference will convene at Bethesda Methodist Church Salisbury May 14 to 17 with about 500 ministers and laymen from 200 pastoral charges and 77 000 Methodists. Bishop G Bromley Oxnam will preside and deliver the 11 a m sermon on May 17. Delegates to national and northeastern conferences will be elected, budget adopted, and ministerial appointments announced for 1959 60. The Salisbury event marks the first conference there since 1948.

Civil Defense Exercise Planned for Caroline County
Caroline County will join the first phase of Operation Alert on April 17 and 18 with air raid sirens, traffic stoppage at take cover, and theoretical bombs to simulate survival steps. At the April Den ton Woman's Club meeting, Rev Arthur Beebe of Federalsburg presented slides from the Holy Land and described highlights of his 1954 trip. The business meeting saw treasurer Mrs Gus Koste resign for health reasons, with Mrs J K Cooper filling the unexpired term, and Mrs Wayne Cawley added to the Board of Directors. Two new members, Mrs Mike Mallott and Mrs Alfred Baughley, were welcomed. Committee chairmen gave annual reports, and hostess duties were performed by Miss Madge Jump and others.

John F. Osinski Jr of Salisbury Maryland earns mention in the April issue of School Science and Mathematics for problem solutions while in Caroline High School he won the Balfour Medal and was selected for Caroline’s team to the Temple University Mathematics Tournament in his junior and senior years. Now a freshman at State Teachers College Salisbury he faces tougher college work but excels in mathematics.
