The Choptank Chapter of the Washington College Alumni Association will hold a dinner meeting and annual officer election in Preston on Wednesday April 27. Dr. Joseph J. Doyle dean of Washington College will be principal speaker on The Washington Program and its small class policy. Toastmaster J Jerome Framptom Jr. of Federalsburg will preside. Dinner at 7 p m at the Undercroft of the Lutheran Church. Reservations due April 20 to Betty Smith Orme. All alumni spouses and friends invited. several Chestertown faculty expected.

Caroline County imposes 90 day dog quarantine
Dr J Walter Hastings outlined a county wide 90 day quarantine for Caroline County due to rabies in two dogs near Preston. Vaccination clinics will be set up with vaccine supplied by the state and administered at county expense. Quarantine can extend by 90 days if new cases appear.

The Eastern Shore 4-H Older Youth Committee raises funds to send an Eastern Shore 4 H member to another country for six months under the International Farm Youth Exchange program. The annual Square Dance Jamboree at Hurlock High School on April 16 from 8 p m to 12 p m features callers from multiple counties and a program of dances to benefit the Eastern Shore IFYE fund. The next committee meeting is April 19 at the Extension Offices in Cambridge at 8 p m.

Denton Rotary during 1939 to 1943 was led by E Theodore Orme Burdette Nut tle Wesley E Thawley and Clayton E Reynolds. The club sponsored the local Boy Scout Troop and worked on establishing library services for Denton and Caroline County. It supported an infantile paralysis fund raising 291 dollars and hosted many programs including Farmers Night and Ladies Night with notable speakers. Miss Mildred Ginn secretary of the Caroline County Red Cross reports March activity with 153 volunteers, five chairmen, two health and welfare institutions aided, services to seven on active duty one veteran and two civilians, totaling ten, and $16.50 advanced. Dr. E G Riley and Dr Iliane Schadt attended an Eas ton meeting planning expanded Water Safety and First Aid programs.

Caroline County reported 50154.93 raised in January for the March of Dimes with schools contributing 1353.57. The drive added 6154.93 this year plus 930 from last fall, funding national vaccine and local patient care. A funds split sent half to National and 30 percent to the county chapter.

Three Local Accidents Total $950.00 Damage
Three local auto incidents caused $950 in damage over two weeks. Joseph Harrington of Denton struck and killed a pony near Route 404, with the pony owned by Howard Anthony. A farm tractor crash on Route 317 near Burrsville injured three children and led to a recklessness charge for Frances Webber.
