State police logged four accidents over the week. Roberto S Robinson of Burrsville crossed center on Ridgely Greensboro highway striking Charles Harris’s parked car, $330 damage. Robinson charged with reckless driving. Fred Smith of Denton side-swiped Mrs Manahan’s car on Market Street. $75 damage. Smith charged. Wm W Hurst of Ft Lee Va skidded near Denton Bridge hitting a B W Trucking Co trailer. $1,080 damage. Hurst charged. Jesse Chance of Easton failed to yield to Route 404. $1,500 damage. Chance charged.

Sparks Appointed Constable At-Large in Caroline County
H Saulsbury Sparks was appointed on Tuesday by the Caroline County Commissioners to be Constable At-Large to fill the unexpired term of Albert Matthews who resigned and whose term ends May 2. Sparks will be eligible for reappointment for a two year term starting May 2. The weather summary notes showers and wind with unsettled conditions. Circuit Court Opens April Term In Caroline County

County Firemen Elect New Officers For 1955
Caroline County Firemen's Association at its regular meeting elected new officers: Paul Singer of Denton as president, Francis Willoughby of Preston as vice president, Harry Allston of Denton as secretary, with O. J. Morgan of Federalsburg reappointed treasurer. Ridgely claimed top attendance prize. Goldsboro was close second. William Wirts of Greensboro received the outstanding fireman of the year cap for his radio committee leadership. The group discussed countywide radio plans, 2-way radios bids, and first aid training. Talbot County's vote against the four-county network paused progress. Memorial services plans were also reviewed.

Neighbors moved in with 18 tractors two fertilizer spreaders and a harrow to ready Wilmer Wright s 80 acre field for planting. Wright, ill for two months, watched as crews plowed a 44 foot swath repeatedly until the field was done by 2 15 p m. Mrs Wright and others provided lunch as he helped briefly.

State Roads Commission reports contracts totaling 88.98 million awarded by March 31 under a 12 year program. Caroline portion reaches 1.63 million for 5.33 miles of primary and 19.78 miles of secondary roads. Since 1954 total awards exceed 795.6 million, with 548 miles of roads affected.
