State Cars To Get One Tag In 1953
Maryland will become a one tag state in 1953 as the Department of Motor Vehicles plans to issue a single license plate per vehicle for the 1953 1954 year. Commissioner Mudd has authority to sell large back plates, to be displayed on the rear, due to steel shortages and cost savings. The exact plate design is not yet known as the current white on black tags remain in use with 53 tabs.

Civil Defense Meeting Here April 16th
A county wide civil defense meeting will be held on Wednesday April 16 1952 at 8 pm in the Court House Denton. Supervisors chiefs assistant chiefs and observers from the four observation posts are invited. A training team from the Baltimore Filter Center will brief volunteers on all GO C work. Caroline County has 107 volunteer observers, so a large turnout is expected. Remember the date Wednesday April 16th.

Cavalcade Of America to Broadcast From Seaford
DuPont plant in Seaford, Delaware will host a coast to coast Cavalcade of America program on May 27. Dr. Raymond C. Grills, plant manager, announced that about 40 DuPont staff will bring actors, announcers, and crew from New York for the local origination. Fire Company Seeks Ambulance Resuscitator Funding
At the Denton Volunteer Fire Company meeting on March 28, members voted to ask service clubs and others to fund a resuscitator for ambulance use. They note increased river and camp activity and a forest fire season. Last year the department bought an $8,000 ambulance and now plan spring drives. Honorary members listed include Mary A. Maryland Cancer Crusade Hopes for 1952 Appeal
The Maryland Division of the American Cancer Society reports $444,219.71 donated to the National Cancer Society for research and $454,576 returned to Maryland as grants to hospitals and medical schools. The 1952 goal is $310,000 with $110,000 from counties, and 42 cents of every dollar funds research, 26 cents education, 19 cents patient services, and 13 cents administration. Public awareness grows as volunteers reach about 6000 in the campaign. Citizens are urged to support the drive.
